SWEET MEAT

   “I am the original ‘Sweet Meat.”

                   Like a tree planted by the water

                            I shall not be moved!

 

                                          Alrighty then….

      Let’s now examine how the word “sweet meat” is defined:

                                                     Sweet meat-

                                                 A sweet delicacy.

A sweet treat such as candy, fruit, or pastries.

                                   So that cha understand

                   I am a sweet delicacy standing firmly

                     By a tree planted by the water!!!

I’m quite sure that when most folks hear the term “sweet meat,” they believe that it refers to some varieties of meat having a sweet taste.

                                         I Am

Although my first name written on my birth certificate is “Pamela,” I am also known by my  family members as “Sweet Meat.” It is a nickname given to me by my late, great father, George Rider. My father called me Pamela only once in my life because I did something that disappointed him. Just hearing him use my government name gave me room for pause. It sounded so foreign and cold coming from him, almost like a disowning. Hearing my father call me Pamela was a bit startling and traumatic. I betcha one thing, I quickly righted my wrong, putting the world back in balance. Because of my father, all of my nieces and nephews call me Aunt Sweet Meat. In other words, the legacy of my father remains alive in me, Sweet Meat.

Sitting outdoors during the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons, the flying insects would attack me, biting or sucking my blood. (And it wasn’t due to me wearing anything perfumy or loud in colors). There would be other folks sitting with me, and I was always the one singled out. People began to recognize this, finding humor in it. I still get annoyed by this unwanted attraction.

 Oh well, I suppose I’m like honey to the bees and flying insects.

 Now I’m not implying that insects are not drawn to other folks.

I’m only saying (no bragging, only facts).

         I AM THE ORIGINAL SWEET MEAT!
